Versatility of the ceramic tiles
Ceramic tiles are used as floorings in houses, shops etc. Ceramic tile
are generally made of clay mixed with some bonding and strengthen materials using high pressure technology. Ceramic tiles are very tough and last long. In olden days usage of Ceramic tiles was limited to bath rooms and kitchens only. Thanks to modern advanced technology, in these days ceramic tiles are being used every where in the living rooms, corridors, rest rooms etc. Further, due to versatility in the designs and shapes, and textures Ceramic tiles are being used on walls, both inside and outside to create great designs. Ceramic Tiles are made differently to suit different needs. For example, wall tile has a high gloss and shiny finish, but a floor tile is heavier and thicker than the wall tile, and a matt finish. Internationally, there is a grading system to indicate quality of Ceramic tiles ranging from Category I to V. Category V quality ceramic tiles are high end toughness and quality and are used in space shuttles. Ceramic tiles are very easy to clean and maintain. Generally Ceramic tiles are acid-proof, stain proof and color fade-proof and fungi resistant. Further, tiles are abrasion resistant and anti-skid also. By using large square Ceramic tiles as flooring, a small room can be made appear large. As to discuss the grey area of topic, one should suggest skill and caution in applying these tiles on floors and walls. If they are not properly paved, they will break easily causing accidents. Further, if water is allowed under the tiles, in freezing conditions, it can cause the tiles to crack and come loose.
